HPS x CMP GermBank Bacterial Strain Preservation System

HPS x CMP GermBank is a ready-to-use bacterial strain preservation system using glycerol-based media and colour-coded vials for -20°C storage — supporting QC, research, and clinical applications across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

HPS x CMP GermBank Bacterial Strain Preservation System | Simple, Colour-Coded Bacterial Preservation for QC & Research Labs

The HPS x CMP GermBank Bacterial Strain Preservation System is a practical, cost-effective solution for preserving bacterial strains at low temperatures, manufactured by Creative Life Science Co., Ltd. (CMP®) under ISO 13485 GMP standards. Distributed by HiPro Scientific across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Each kit contains colour-coded vials (5 colours) with a specially formulated glycerol-enriched medium that supports absorption and release of bacteria via porous ceramic beads. Strains can be stored at -20°C or lower — including liquid nitrogen — for long-term viability.

Key Features

  • Colour-coded vials (5 colours × 10 or 20) for easy strain classification and retrieval
  • Glycerol-bead system enables single-bead subculturing — minimises contamination and freeze-thaw cycles
  • Compatible with aerobes, anaerobes, gram-positive, gram-negative, and yeast strains
  • Leak-proof design — safe for -20°C and liquid nitrogen storage
  • GMP-manufactured by CMP® Taiwan, ISO 13485 certified

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can GermBank be used for anaerobic bacteria and yeast?
A: Yes. HPS x CMP GermBank is compatible with all major microorganism types including aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, gram-positive and gram-negative species, and yeast. The glycerol-bead formulation maintains cell viability across these organism groups at -20°C or lower, including liquid nitrogen storage.

Q: How do I use GermBank to retrieve a preserved strain?
A: To retrieve a preserved strain, remove the vial from storage and, while still frozen, use a sterile wire loop or forceps to remove one or two beads. Inoculate the bead(s) directly onto an appropriate agar plate or into broth, then incubate under the required conditions. Return the vial to -20°C immediately — do not allow the remaining beads to thaw. This single-bead subculturing approach minimises freeze-thaw cycles and preserves the viability of the remaining stock.

Q: What is the shelf life of strains preserved in GermBank?
A: When stored at -20°C in a non-frost-free freezer, GermBank-preserved strains typically remain viable for 1–2 years or longer. For long-term archiving beyond 2 years, storage in liquid nitrogen (-196°C) is recommended. Viability varies by organism — fastidious or obligate anaerobes may have shorter viable storage periods. Always confirm viability by subculture before critical use.
